Rondo calls Bulls 'Jimmy's team'
Rajon Rondo attempted to avoid any future controversy by making one thing clear during his introduction in Chicago: the Bulls are still Jimmy Butler's team."
"It's Jimmy's team," Rondo told reporters on Thursday. "Jimmy, Wade, and then whatever after that."
Rondo appears willing to defer to Butler and Wade this season, knowing that his role is to set up his teammates for open looks - something he has done well throughout his 10-year career.
"I know how to keep guys happy," Rondo said. "I like to spread the ball around and keep everyone happy. Knowing the game, getting guys shots that make them better."
Much has been made about Rondo's attitude issues these past few seasons, particularly after quarreling with Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle in 2015. The 30-year-old stated that while he may be difficult to deal with at times, his strong-willed approach is what makes him a great player.
"I'm stubborn but intelligent," Rondo added. "People look at it as a knock but I think that's what makes me great."
