Mark Cuban: Harrison Barnes will become a go-to guy
The Dallas Mavericks signed Harrison Barnes to a reported four-year, $94-million deal, and at least one person is over the moon about the acquisition.
Team owner Mark Cuban believes Barnes will become a star in Dallas.
"You're going to see a lot more to his game than you've seen in the past," Cuban said, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon. "I think he can do a lot more than he's been asked to do, and that's what we expect to see.
"Maybe not first year, but I think he's going to grow into (the role of go-to guy). Just because a guy hasn't done things doesn't mean he can't do it."
Barnes joins the Mavericks in free agency from the 73-win Golden State Warriors. In four years in the Bay Area, the 24-year-old small forward recorded 10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 44.6 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from beyond the arc in just over 28 minutes per contest.
The former North Carolina Tar Heel earned about $3 million per year in Golden State, so he's looking at a significant raise.
Still, the billionaire team owner took care of lunch at an, er, fine establishment.
