Report: Bulls take Butler off trade market

It appears Jimmy Butler will remain a member of the Chicago Bulls for the time being.

After adding several pieces in free agency, the Bulls have taken Butler off the trade market, league sources tell ESPN's Zach Lowe. Chicago will likely enter next season with a core of Butler, Dwyane Wade, and Rajon Rondo, as they look to return to the playoffs following last year's disappointing campaign.

Chicago was reportedly in talks with both the Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics regarding Butler leading up to the draft, but failed to agree on a reasonable asking price for the 26-year-old shooting guard. General manager Gar Forman later denied those rumors.

With Butler locked up for at least three more years at a more than reasonable price, Chicago management would likely need to receive a substantial offer in order to part with the two-time All-Star. In 67 games this past season, Butler averaged 20.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals, proving himself as one of the premier shooting guards in the game.
