Raptors officially sign DeRozan to reported 5-year, $139M deal

The Toronto Raptors officially announced Thursday the re-signing of shooting guard DeMar DeRozan to a multi-year contract.

Details were not disclosed, but it's worth $139 million over five years, The Vertical's Shams Charania reports.

The 26-year-old enjoyed arguably his best pro season in 2015-16, averaging a career-high 23.5 points, while being named to his second All-Star team. DeRozan was a key member of the Raptors playoff run, helping Toronto reach the Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history.

"I've put my blood, swear and tears into this organization," DeRozan stated in his press conference. "I wasn't done yet."

DeRozan joins former Boston Celtics big man Jared Sullinger as Toronto's latest offseason signings.

"Our top priority in the offseason was to make sure DeMar remained a Raptor," Raptors president and general manager Masai Ujiri stated in a press release. "He has been a foundation for our franchise, a leader who exemplifies the culture we are developing and a key contributor in our success. We are delighted that after seven season DeMar wanted to remain in Toronto to help us continue to build a championship program."
