Pistons officially sign Drummond to reported 5-year, $130M deal
The Detroit Pistons officially announced the signing of center Andre Drummond to a reported five-year, $130-million contract on Friday.
Drummond finished the season as the league's rebounding leader, averaging 14.8 boards per game. The 22-year-old also chipped in 16.2 points per game and 1.5 steals per game, helping to lead Detroit to the postseason for the first time in his career.
"Re-signing Andre was a top priority for us this offseason," Pistons president and head coach Stan Van Gundy stated in a press release. "The offensive and defensive numbers speak for themselves, but more importantly, his commitment to the organization has allowed us to put together a young group of players that will grow together and continue to move the franchise forward."
While Drummond has improved in almost all facets of his game since coming into the league, the UConn product's struggles from the free-throw line continued this past season, as he knocked down just 35.5 percent of his attempts.
