Watch: Bulls' Valentine hits OT buzzer-beater to win Vegas Summer League
The Chicago Bulls beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime to capture the Las Vegas Summer League title Monday night, on this buzzer-beating stepback-turnaround from rookie forward Denzel Valentine.
The shot broke an 82-82 tie, and capped a 7-0 run for the Bulls in Vegas.
Valentine was the reason the game even went to an extra frame in the first place. He tied the wild, see-sawing contest with a 3-ball just ahead of the regulation buzzer, which itself came just seconds after Wolves sophomore point guard Tyus Jones hit a ridiculous, contested 30-footer with three seconds to play.
Valentine came into the fourth quarter shooting 0-for-6 from the field and 0-of-4 from 3-point range, but he still had the confidence to make the game's two biggest shots.
What's more, it seems he told his coach and teammates that he would.
Valentine: "As soon as they tied it up, I went over to asst. coach Charlie (Henry) and said, ‘Give me the ball. I’m going to win this game.’
