Blazers' McCollum to buy home, but not next to Lillard
C.J. McCollum has inked a max contract extension with the Portland Trail Blazers, and he's getting ready to make a big purchase.
The deal reportedly doesn't have any opt-out options, so the shooting guard will presumably be living in Oregon through the 2020-21 campaign. In light of that security, he's begun checking out some real estate.
"I don't really have any crazy purchases that I'm looking forward to besides getting myself a house in Oregon and being able to make this a permanent home," he said Tuesday on "Rip City Mornings."
As close as McCollum is with backcourt mate Damian Lillard, he won't be moving next door to him.
"Well the way Lillard's estate is set up, there's no possibility of being close to him, because he sits alone on 10-11 acres with a gate with a driveway longer than a football field, so I don't think I'm supposed to be that close to him," the 24-year-old said. "Right now I live probably 12 or 13 minutes away from him."
McCollum also said he and his brother recently purchased their mother a house in their hometown of Ohio. He's planning to buy his father a home and perhaps another car, as well.
One thing the Lehigh University grad won't be spending any of his riches on are tattoos. He's one of the few ink-free NBA players and intends to keep it that way.
