Report: Allen wants NBA return to pad 3-point lead over Curry

Records are meant to be broken, but if Ray Allen can help it, he'd like to see his mark for the most 3-pointers in NBA history last a few more years before a certain Splash Brother from the Golden State Warriors takes the top spot.

Allen has been away from the game for two seasons, although he hasn't officially retired. The 41-year-old has been linked to the Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers, while expressing interest in perhaps returning to either the Boston Celtics or Milwaukee Bucks - the two organizations with which he played a majority of his career.

Beyond adding another title to his resume, Allen reportedly seeks to hit the hardwood once again to create more breathing room between himself and "The Chef" Stephen Curry, who is well on his way to catching the 18-year marksman's record.

"Ray wants to play again. I'm sure about that," The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn told "Toucher and Rich" on Tuesday.

"I don't think he particularly enjoys watching Stephen Curry rain threes and challenge his record and be called the best shooter in the world. I think that bothers him. I know Ray wants to extend his all-time 3-point record."

If Allen never suits up for another game, factoring in the pace Curry's on, it could take the back-to-back MVP another four-to-five seasons with at least 300 3-pointers to knock Allen off his pedestal.
