Kobe offers to train young Lakers despite retirement

The Black Mamba has retired, but he'll remain an influence on Los Angeles Lakers basketball for some time to come.

Kobe Bryant told Mike Bresnahan of TWC Sportsnet that he would make himself available to young Lakers who seek his mentorship.

"I would love to come by," Bryant said of helping players. "I've spoken with Luke (Walton) several times, (Brian) Shaw as well. I let the players know that I'm always around, man. I'm always around. If they wanna come out, and work out, wake up early in the morning to work out, walk them through some things."

Having played with head coach Luke Walton and assistant Brian Shaw as members of the Lakers, Bryant is a friend to the coaching staff, and the newly-retired Bryant has plenty of wisdom to offer.

The third-leading scorer of all-time is one of the most technically sound players to have ever played the game.

So whether D'Angelo Russell needs pointers on how to run the offense, or if Brandon Ingram needs to learn some post moves, they can depend on a legend.

"The Lakers are in my blood," Bryant said. "That's family, so I'm always around."
