Jennings objects to having lower 2K17 rating than Dudley
It's August, which means NBA players are anxiously awaiting their ratings in the newest edition of the 2K video game franchise. And whereas guys like Karl-Anthony Towns and Joel Embiid are pleased, Brandon Jennings seems a little incredulous.
When the New York Knicks guard saw that Phoenix Suns forward Jared Dudley got a 76 rating for 2K17 and he got a 75, he felt the need to call him out.
Waitttttttt a min!!!!! Jared ur my guy and all. But listen no way I'm 75 and u 76! πππ no way https://t.co/lQ0gH5EUXd

How seriously players take these ratings isn't new - Hassan Whiteside based his rise to NBA stardom on them - and Jennings may have a point. According to Basketball-Reference, outside of 3-point percentage and value over replacement player, Jennings has had the statistically superior career.
Optimal role | Age | PTS (career) | REB | AST | 3P% | PER | VORP | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dudley | Stretch-4 | 31 | 8.4 | 3.4 | 1.6 | 39.9 | 13.4 | 14.2 |
Jennings | Point guard | 26 | 15.5 | 3.1 | 5.9 | 35 | 16.2 | 10.9 |
2K's ratings system is based on several factors, though, and Jennings missed almost a full calendar year of action between the 2015 and 2016 seasons due to a ruptured Achilles.
