For the third summer in a row, the Larry O'Brien trophy made the trip down under to Australia.

But that's not enough for NBA champion Matthew Dellavedova - he wants to see a game played in his home country.

"All the boys are working on it, it's just a matter of whose teams are going to get out and play," Dellavedova said, according to Michael Randall of the Herald Sun.

With the trophy in hand, Dellavedova was greeted by swarms of adoring basketball fans on Tuesday morning at Federation Square in Melbourne.

"All the boys talk to the NBA and any chance we get we always make sure we mention (a game in Australia) and keep it fresh in their minds."

Dellavedova even has a venue picked out for a potential game. He suggested the hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), with a seating capacity of over 100,000, could host the game.

“I think the MCG would be pretty cool,” Dellavedova said. “I obviously can’t run out there playing footy, but it would be pretty cool to run out there if they can get a basketball court on the surface.

“I hope it’d be a sellout because I think a lot of people love basketball, it’s so accessible these days."

In winning the title as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dellavedova joined his countrymen Luc Longley, Patty Mills, Andrew Bogut, and Aron Baynes as notable Australians who've won it all in the NBA.
