Stephen Jackson attempting NBA comeback: 'I have a good 2 years left'
"Cap'n Jack" wants to come back.
Stephen Jackson hasn't played in the NBA in two years, and is itching to get back on the court. He refuses to settle for the D-League or a team overseas, though.
"NBA or nothing, man," he told Rodger Bohn of SLAM Online. "I don't need the money. I just want to give back to the game. Anything else is a step down, so I just want to give the NBA a shot."
Jackson has played 14 seasons and earned north of $68 million over his career.
The 38-year-old still feels like he can play. In fact, he believes he's got two good years left in the tank.
"I've been been playing basketball at a high level and my body feels great. I got calls from different coaches who have seen me work out and they know I can still play. I've got two years left, so why not give it back to the game?"
The 6-foot-8 forward declared early last month that he'll be back in the big leagues in 2016-17. He said he's worked out for teams, but he's yet to latch on to any of them.
"My whole career, I've never had no serious injuries or no surgeries," he said. "These last seven months, I've been doing two-a-days to get ready. I know I have a good two years left and hopefully I can help somebody."
Jackson has career averages of 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 33 percent from 3-point territory.
