Iguodala: I laugh about 'The Block' all the time
Despite playing the role of victim during one of the most memorable plays in NBA Finals history, Andre Iguodala is a fan of "The Block," just like everyone else.
The Golden State Warriors sixth man opened up about LeBron James' awe-inspiring defensive gem in an exclusive interview with ESPN's Chris Haynes, saying that he has nothing but respect for the three-time champion's play.
"I laugh about it all the time," Iguodala said. "People try to joke on me. I still get mentions all day from fans always talking about the block.
"I'm like, 'Man, that sh-- was so dope to me too.' I was a fan. That sh-- was amazing. When he blocked it, I was like, 'Damn, somebody got shot.' I thought it was funny. Somebody just made a good play. What you want me to do? If you enjoy the game of basketball, you should just be like, 'Dude made a great play. F--- it.'"
While LeBron received the glory, Iguodala still believes he would've scored had J.R. Smith not attempted to steal the ball immediately prior to the block.
"I looked back at it too, and had I came in from a different angle, I could have (dunked it)," Iguodala said. "But you know who made the play? J.R. made the play. Because I came in thinking dunk and then I took off and he swiped (at the ball) and I had to move the ball. If you look, I moved the ball (to my right). I just tried to finish the play."
Iguodala will have the opportunity for revenge on the four-time MVP on Christmas Day, when the Warriors visit the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena.
