Watch: Wall ejected for 2nd straight game following flagrant-2 foul
Washington Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall was assessed a flagrant-2 foul on Wednesday night midway through the fourth quarter against the Boston Celtics, resulting in his ejection.
A flagrant-2 foul is defined by the league as being unnecessary and excessive contact committed by a player against an opponent.
The 26-year-old threw Marcus Smart to the ground from the head and shoulder area, which, in the eyes of the officials, wasn't a legitimate basketball play.
He ended the night with 19 points on 6-of-16 shooting, along with seven assists, three rebounds, and a game-high five turnovers in 30 minutes of action.
His absence late didn't make much of a difference in the final result, though, as Washington won just its second game of the season with a convincing 118-93 victory.
Wall was fined $25,000 on Wednesday for an "inappropriate interaction" with referee Marc Davis during Monday's outing against the Houston Rockets.
