Embiid, Murray named Rookies of the Month
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid and Denver Nuggets shooting guard Jamal Murray have been named the Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month for October and November.
Embiid is averaging 18.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, and 1.5 assists while shooting 48 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range in his first 12 NBA games.
"The Process" has impressed despite being on a restriction of 22 minutes per game - which has just been bumped up to 28 - after missing the last two campaigns while recovering from foot surgeries. He's been a beacon of hope for the 4-14 Sixers.
Embiid leads both Philly and all rookies in points, free throws, rebounds, and blocks. His PER of 23.75 ranks first among first-year players, and 23rd in the NBA.
Meanwhile, Murray is second in rookie scoring with 10.4 points per contest for the 7-11 Nuggets. It took him five games to make his first basket in the pros, but since then, the Canadian's scored in double figures in half the outings he's suited up in, including a four-game stretch last week that saw him put up 21 points a night.
