Watch: Melo ejected for shot to Sefolosha's face

USA Today Sports

Carmelo Anthony was forced out of Wednesday's game for hitting Atlanta Hawks swingman Thabo Sefolosha square in the face when they were tangled up in the paint.

The New York Knicks forward was assessed a flagrant-2 foul for the exchange, resulting in an automatic ejection. He finished with 10 points and five rebounds in 15 minutes, and left with his team trailing by five late in the second quarter.

"He punched me," Sefolosha said after the game, according to ESPN's Ian Begley. "That was a fist right in my face."

This marks the 10th ejection of Anthony's career - the fourth-most of any player since his rookie season in 2003-04.

This also wasn't the first time Melo took a shot at an opponent's head and backed away when confronted.
