Wade: Rondo's benching 'sucks' but he's still being professional
Rajon Rondo has been handling a bad situation rather well.
The perfectly healthy Chicago Bulls point guard hasn't seen the floor in the past three-and-a-half games. In what may come as a surprise, Rondo's dealt with the demotion admirably, according to one of his teammates.
"He's a good player in this league and has had some big games for us," Dwyane Wade said, as quoted by K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. "It can be uncomfortable at times, especially when your teammates don't know what's going on and it's not their job to know what's going on. He's been very professional about it. But it still sucks."
The 12-time All-Star noted that Rondo understandably isn't happy about the string of DNP-CDs, but he's remained involved with the team.
"You don't expect him to be jolly that he's not playing the game that he loves," Wade said. "But when it comes to his teammates, he's been great. He's been staying in it, keeps talking to guys. He's been here every day. It's a tough situation."
Before coach Fred Hoiberg relegated Rondo to the bench, the 30-year-old started in all 29 games he suited up in. He met with general manager Gar Forman and executive VP John Paxson last weekend, and let them know he'd "absolutely" request a trade if he didn't get some burn.

Rondo's developed a reputation as a lightning rod for controversy, having left both the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks on poor terms. However, he vowed to approach his current predicament professionally. So far he has, per Wade and Hoiberg, but he still appears glued to the pine.
