Kerr celebrates MLK Day: 'I'm really, really proud' to be part of progressive NBA
Steve Kerr understands there are more important things in the world than basketball.
On Monday, ahead of a highly-anticipated rematch between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers, the Dubs' head coach - clad in a Martin Luther King Jr. shirt - opened his presser by wishing everyone a happy MLK Day.
"It is a great day. It's a great day for our league. It's a great day for our country. It's one of the best days of the year for the NBA. We celebrate the game. We celebrate Dr. King's legacy and his impact," he told reporters.

The 51-year-old took the opportunity to praise the NBA, which is considered the most progressive pro sports league in the country.
"I'm really, really proud to be part of the NBA, proud of (commissioner) Adam Silver's leadership, proud that the league is so progressive in terms of promoting tolerance and equality," Kerr said. "And they back it up. It is truly from the heart."
A recent example of the league practicing what it preaches is when it pulled February's All-Star Game out of Charlotte over a law deemed discriminatory.
Great stuff from the bench boss.
