Melo: 'I never thought I would be anywhere' but New York
The rumor mill may be buzzing with the trade deadline fast approaching, but Carmelo Anthony fully expects to remain in the Big Apple past Feb. 23.
Equipped with a no-trade clause, Anthony ultimately has the power to control his own destiny, saying the Knicks have yet to even approach him with a possible trade offer to date.
"Like I told you all before, nothing came to me, nothing came to my table for me to look at," Anthony told ESPN's Ian Begley. "Until that time comes, then they don't need for me to even talk about the trade clause.
"I never thought I would be anywhere else."
The Knicks were reportedly in discussions with three teams regarding potential deals involving the 32-year-old, but failed to find an arrangement that worked for both sides. New York has remained in touch with at least one team as of last week, according to Begley, but all of the possible deals discussed were labeled as "complicated."
Reports surfaced last week indicating that Phil Jackson's passive-aggressive attempts at running the Knicks forward out of town had only strengthened Anthony's desire to stay in New York.
