Beal confused by ASG snub after NBA tabs Melo to replace Love

The Washington Wizards are the league's hottest team, with John Wall and Bradley Beal powering most of their momentum.

Wall was selected as an All-Star reserve, but Beal was snubbed - not once but twice. The coaches passed on Beal for the reserves before NBA commissioner Adam Silver tabbed Carmelo Anthony to be Kevin Love's injury replacement.

That didn't sit well with Beal.

"I’ll never say a player doesn’t deserve to be on the all-star team," Beal vented to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post. For one, Carmelo is a great player. Hell, he’s been one of the best offensive threats in the league for years now, and I’m taking absolutely nothing away from him.

"But the process of it does not make sense. If they reward winning, then I don’t understand how the decision was made. It was kind of weird to me."

Silver apparently selected Melo since he received the most votes from coaches out of anyone who missed the cut. But nevertheless, he could have still picked Beal, who has better numbers for a better team.

The 23-year-old shooting guard has put injuries behind him for a career year in which he's averaging 22.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 40 percent from deep and 47.2 percent from the field.

More importantly, Beal's Wizards are 11.5 games ahead of Anthony's Knicks.

"I don’t know what the rules are or how everything goes, but I definitely feel I had a great opportunity," Beal said. "Being on a winning team and being able to have success and I’m playing pretty well this year, I felt like I deserved to be there, but at the end of the day it is what it is.

"It’s not going to determine me as a player. It’s not going to put me down for the rest of the year. … I can enjoy my break and come back full steam ahead and rolling into the playoffs."
