Bulls' Morrow apologizes for wearing No. 1, promises a change
Sharpshooting veteran Anthony Morrow learned the hard way Friday that the No. 1 jersey is sacred in the Windy City, as it was worn by former league MVP and hometown boy Derrick Rose.
Morrow, who was acquired by the Chicago Bulls prior to Thursday's trade deadline from the Oklahoma City Thunder, was in uniform for his team's 128-121 overtime victory against the Phoenix Suns, although he didn't see the floor.
After an overwhelming backlash from fans, he apologized on social media for his jersey selection, and vowed to change his number as soon as possible.
Nooo disrespect to the fans here in chicago! Had I known y'all felt like this about number 1 I swear I wouldn't have chose it. I apologize

The same situation arose when point guard Michael Carter-Williams was traded to the Bulls from the Milwaukee Bucks prior to the start of the season. Originally choosing No. 1, the former Rookie of the Year was backed into a corner by fans who took issue with his choice, so he elected to wear No. 7 instead.
