Spurs, Warriors head into all-important game with decimated rosters
Saturday night's marquee matchup between the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs has been reduced to a who's who of ... well, who's who?
Both teams' rosters will look dramatically different when they take the floor at AT&T Center, with injuries and top names being rested crippling what was recently one of the more highly anticipated meetings of the entire 2016-17 campaign.
Team | Player | Absense/Injury |
---|---|---|
Golden State Warriors | Kevin Durant | MCL sprain |
Golden State Warriors | Steph Curry | Rest |
Golden State Warriors | Klay Thompson | Rest |
Golden State Warriors | Draymond Green | Rest |
Golden State Warriors | Andre Iguodala | Rest |
San Antonio Spurs | Kawhi Leonard | Concussion |
San Antonio Spurs | LaMarcus Aldridge | Heart |
San Antonio Spurs | Tony Parker | Back |
San Antonio Spurs | Dejounte Murray | Groin |
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters following his team's 103-102 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves Friday that he's simply prioritizing the long-term health of his players by holding them out of the lineup against the Spurs on the second night of a back-to-back.
San Antonio (50-14) only trails Golden State (52-13) by 1.5 games for the top seed in the Western Conference, and blew out the Warriors at Oracle Arena to begin the season on Oct. 25. Should they win tonight, the Spurs would own the tiebreaker if the teams find themselves tied after 82 games.
