Report: Casspi cleared for basketball activities, playoff teams interested
Several teams in the playoff picture are reportedly interested in acquiring a healthy Omri Casspi's services.
The 28-year-old has been cleared to resume basketball activities after breaking his thumb in a game against the Houston Rockets on Feb. 23, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.
He's evaluating his options, with the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers just two of the teams looking at bringing him aboard, reports Stein.
Days before the trade deadline, Casspi and All-Star teammate DeMarcus Cousins were shipped by the Sacramento Kings to the New Orleans Pelicans for four players and draft picks.
He was waived days later after it was ruled that he'd miss four-to-six weeks. Since this took place prior to the March 1 deadline, Casspi can sign with a new team and be eligible to compete in the postseason.
In 22 appearances this season as a member of the Kings, he averaged 5.9 points on 45.3 percent shooting from the field, along with 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists, in 18 minutes per game.
