Jazz's Gobert records NBA season-high FG percentage vs. Knicks
"The Stifle Tower" was at his absolute best Wednesday when the Utah Jazz hosted the New York Knicks at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
In 38 minutes of action, 7-foot-1 Rudy Gobert scored a career-high 35 points, grabbed 13 rebounds (11 offensive), and blocked four shots as Utah ended its three-game losing streak with a 108-101 victory against New York.
Using his long frame to basically get whatever he wanted around the basket against a Knicks frontcourt that posed little resistance, Gobert managed to convert 13 of 14 field-goal attempts (92.9 percent) with an array of dunks, tip-ins, and layups.
The 24-year-old Frenchman's impressive field-goal percentage was a new season high for the NBA with a minimum of 10 shot attempts, according to Basketball-Reference.com.
The previous high was held by both DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers (Jan. 14 vs. Lakers) and Montrezl Harrell of the Houston Rockets (Jan. 8 vs. Raptors) at 92.3 percent.
Gobert is the seventh player since 1983-84 (Alonzo Mourning, Scottie Pippen, Cedric Ceballos, Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, and Dwight Howard) to score 35 or more points in a game on better than 90 percent shooting.
