Warriors optimistic Durant will return during regular season
The Golden State Warriors are optimistic Kevin Durant will play again this regular season.
The All-Star forward participated in a half-court 5-on-5 session Saturday, which represents his most demanding workout since suffering an MCL sprain and tibial bone bruise to his left knee on Feb. 28.
Is he expected to be back before the playoffs?
"Yes," Warriors coach Steve Kerr replied to reporters, as quoted by CSN Bay Area's Monte Poole.
There's still no timetable for the former MVP's return, but it does appear imminent with him displaying improved mobility and agility.
"We're getting closer, but we're not there yet," Kerr said. "He's doing well, but we have to keep it going and let it play out until he's completely ready."
Six games remain over the next 10 days for the Dubs, who are riding a 10-game winning streak. They'd be thrilled to welcome back Durant and reintegrate him into the lineup ahead of what will likely be another deep postseason run.
Durant's averaging team highs in points (25.3), rebounds (8.2), and blocks (1.6) in his first campaign with the Warriors after joining them last offseason.
