Magic, Gordon meet to address photo depicting him as trade bait
The Orlando Magic are making sure Aaron Gordon knows where he stands within the organization.
Magic head coach Frank Vogel met with Gordon on Tuesday after a tweeted photo appeared to show the high-flying youngster as potential trade bait.
"Typically, with rumors and stuff like that, we don’t really address them," Vogel told Josh Robbins of The Orlando Sentinel. "But this is a unique situation, and I talked to him a little bit this morning, and everybody’s good. We’re ready to move on."
The photo showed Dario Saric under a list of potential trade targets, with "for AG?" written next to the Philadelphia 76ers rookie's name, leading many to believe Gordon was being discussed in a prospective deal.
Gordon didn't get into specifics regarding the meeting, but did say the trade talk came as a surprise.
"It was definitely something that I wasn’t aware of before," Gordon said.
"It wasn’t for me to see, so for me to see something like that, it brings something that’s out of my control into my reality," he added. "But that’s neither here nor there. My plan and my focus is to play basketball and to enjoy the game of basketball. Anything other than that is out of my control. I love this organization and I’m going to continue to work hard and play."
Magic general manager Rob Hennigan downplayed the photo Tuesday, telling reporters it "wasn't indicative" of Orlando's offseason plans.
