Nick Young: Lakers were let down by 'snitch' Russell
Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young appears to still have beef with D'Angelo Russell.
Young, who played with Russell on the Lakers from 2015-17, blamed his former teammate for L.A.'s struggles this season during an interview with VladTV.
"I was making fun of (head coach Darvin) Ham, but the Lakers just didn't have the staff, the team," Young said. "They depended on D-Lo, and that's just - you're asking to lose. You're asking to lose right there, placing your faith in that."
He added: "What do you expect? They put their faith in the snitch, and the snitch let you down."
Young's beef with Russell stems from the 2015-16 season, when the latter secretly recorded him admitting to cheating on his then-fiancee, rapper Iggy Azalea. The video subsequently leaked, reportedly creating tension in the locker room.
The Lakers went 47-35 this season and won the NBA's inaugural In-Season Tournament, but they fell to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs. It marked the second straight year that the Nuggets eliminated them.
Russell averaged 14.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in Round 1 while shooting 38.4% from the field and 31.8% from 3-point range.
