Durant on Nowitzki: 'Dirk's got a lot of moves I'm trying to steal'
If you've ever seen Kevin Durant take a fadeaway jumper that looked somewhat familiar, that's probably not surprising - Durant has copped to stealing Dirk Nowitzki's form in the past.
But it's not just Nowitzki's patented fadeaway that Durant emulates.
"It's a lot more than just trying to copy the one-legger," Durant told ESPN. "Dirk's got a lot of moves I'm trying to steal."
Nowitzki isn't a bad player to try and copy, as he's one of the most prolific scorers in league history. Averaging 21.6 points at age 35 doesn't happen by accident or due to elite athleticism, and if Durant - who has scored 5,672 more points than Nowitzki had through his age-25 season - wants to join Nowitzki on the legaue's top-10 all-time scoring list, he'll need to develop moves that age well.
And how's this for an added wrinkle: If the season ended today (it doesn't), Nowitzki and Durant would square off in round one of the Western Conference playoffs. All the one-legged fadeaways you can handle.
