Kobe Bryant on Jimmy Kimmel: 'I didn't care' about Mike D'Antoni's resignation (VIDEO)
When Kobe Bryant appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday, the main takeaway many walked away with was that the Los Angeles Lakers star wanted to be a part of the process as the team looks to hire it's next bench boss.
Now that video of the interview has emerged, it's also clear that Bryant wasn't exactly moved by the resignation of Mike D'Antoni at the end of the season.
"Honestly, I didn't care," Bryant said, despite the pre-existing relationship between the two that was likely part of the reason D'Antoni landed the gig in the first place.
While he did shift blame off of his former favorite player as a child in Italy - "Mike was dealt a really bad hand" with injuries this season - he also made an analogy that sure made it seem as if D'Antoni's removal was welcome. The following quote is in response to Magic Johnson's controversial tweet that follows below:
The first thing I thought of was seeing the munchkins on the Yellow Brick Road dancing and signing 'The Wicked Witch is dead.' When he tweeted that, that song just came to mind.
There is still no concrete indication as to what coach the Lakers may prefer, though several names from the college ranks, out of work NBA coaches, coaches currently under employ and, of course, Nick Young have all been rumored as interested or candidates.
