Thabo Sefolosha unsure of his future with the Thunder
Thabo Sefolosha's six-year tenure as the shooting guard of the Oklahoma City Thunder may be coming to an end.
On Sunday, during the Thunder's locker clean-out, the soon-to-be unrestricted free-agent was asked about his future with the club going forward, to which he replied "I have no clue."
He went on to add, "I’m going to have to take some time to think about a lot of things and see the options and take it from there."
Sefolosha, who has started 367 games for the Thunder dating back to 2009, was frustrated with head coach Scott Brooks' decision to relegate him to the bench during the Thunder's recent failed playoff run.
It was very frustrating. Very frustrating … You have a lot of questions like why, and what is the thought process necessarily behind it and things like that. You just stick with the plan and stick with your teammates but definitely, it is frustrating at times
This past season with the Thunder, Sefolosha posted per-game averages of 6.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. The rangy 6-foot-7 shooting guard profiles as a defense-first wing player with a somewhat inconsistent three-point stroke. However, he has significant shortcomings on the offensive end of the floor, which prompted the aforementioned switch by Brooks.
The Thunder's depth at shooting guard is rather thin, which may impact their decision to retain Sefolosha. Reggie Jackson, his playoff replacement, is better suited to playing point guard, and players like Jeremy Lamb, Andre Roberson and Perry Jones have yet to demonstrate the ability to consistently play focused wing defense.
