Report: Heat to sign 2013 draft acquisition James Ennis
After acquiring Long Beach State senior James Ennis from Atlanta immediately after the Hawks drafted him 50th overall in 2013, the Miami Heat decided to stash the 6-foot-7 forward overseas.
But now, after Ennis spent the season playing for the Perth Wildcats of Australia's National Basketball League - racking up 21.2 points and 7.2 rebounds a game while shooting nearly 47 percent from the floor - RealGM reports that, according to multiple league sources, "there's an increasingly strong likelihood the [Heat] will sign him."
Ennis, 23, led Perth to an NBL title and earned first-team honors. He reportedly spent the past week in Miami working out for the Heat front office and is expected to headline the team's Summer League rosters in Orlando and Las Vegas.
Per RealGM's sources, the potential signing would likely be a multi-year deal.
