Report: Sixers 'trying to do whatever they can' to draft Andrew Wiggins

We've been hearing for some time now that the Philadelphia 76ers really want Andrew Wiggins in the NBA draft, but having the No. 3 overall pick leaves them no certainty he'll be on the board.

As a result, the Sixers have been trying to engage the Cleveland Cavaliers in discussions for the No. 1 overall pick (see the post below).

With the draft just over a week away and Wiggins visiting Philadelphia on Monday and Tuesday, that interest in Wiggins has remained steadfast, according to The Inquirer:

Sources have confirmed a report that the Sixers have inquired about trading for the Cavs' first pick. The Sixers reportedly aren't willing to give up their third and 10th picks in exchange for the No. 1 selection. They will, however, possibly give up a combination of the No. 3 pick and power forward Thaddeus Young, according to ESPN.com.

According to sources, the Sixers are trying to do whatever they can to draft him. And there's a sense that he wants to become a Sixer.

There's some conflicting wording in there - that they'll do "whatever they can" but won't package the Nos. 3 and 10 picks - but it's obvious they're trying, and Thad Young could be an attractive chip to include in any deal

Meanwhile, the latest mock draft from ESPN's Chad Ford has Wiggins sliding to No. 3, anyway, but the Kansas wing is headed to Cleveland on Wednesday, which could obviously change the Cavaliers' thinking.

Whether the Sixers will risk missing out on "their guy" by waiting at No. 3, or whether they'll willing to pay with an asset to remove that uncertainty, will probably be unclear until draft night.
