Danny Granger to decline 2014-15 player option, become free agent
Danny Granger will decline his player option for the 2014-15 season, becoming an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Clippers forward Danny Granger doesn’t plan on opting in on his 2014-15 contract that would pay him $1.36 million, says NBA officials.

This move was largely expected considering Granger's option is for the minimum commensurate with his experience, meaning Granger is assuming no financial risk so long as he signs somewhere for next season.
After working his way back from myriad leg injuries this season, Granger was dealt from the Indiana Pacers to the Philadelphia 76ers in a deadline day trade involving Evan Turner heading the other way. The 76ers waived Granger, allowing him to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, who were willing to sweeten the deal with the player option, an enticing offer in the event Granger's injury issues resurfaced.
In 41 games between the Pacers and Clippers, Granger averaged 8.2 points and 3.2 rebounds but shot just 37.8 percent from the floor. He clearly wasn't back to being the pre-injury version of himself that made an All-Star team in 2008-09 and averaged more than 20 points as recently as 2010-11.
Still, for a team looking for a relatively cheap, veteran wing, the 31-year-old Granger could be attractive.
