Report: Lakers, Xavier Henry interested in reunion
Aside from Kobe Bryant's much-maligned return, there wasn't much for fans of the Los Angeles Lakers to be excited for last season.
However, if there were one ray of sunshine that managed to peek through the Lakers' cloud of negativity, it was certainly the play of Xavier Henry. The unheralded forward posted career highs in points (10), rebounds (2.7) and assists per game (1.2) in 43 games before a pair of injuries ended his season.
It appears that the Lakers and Henry - who is an unrestricted free-agent - have mutual interest in a reunion. According to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News, Henry wants to re-sign with the Lakers, and the team wants to re-sign him, but they hope to keep their books clean by signing him for just one season.
Given Henry's career took him to three NBA teams over four seasons, it wouldn't be a surprise for him to prioritize job security as a free-agent. However, his season was cut short by injuries which may limit Henry's options beyond any offers made by the Lakers.
From a fan's perspective, it would be fun to see Henry no matter where he lands. Especially if he continues to do stuff like this.
