Report: Suns' Frye will opt out
Although Suns forward Channing Frye wants to stay in Phoenix, he won't pass up the opportunity to land a long-term deal in free-agency.
As noted by ESPN's Marc Stein in the tweet above, Frye can opt-in for $6.8 million to play with the Suns next season. However, given the versatile floor-stretcher's excellent showing last seaosn, he's likely looking to net himself a longer deal.
The 31-year-old Frye is a prototypical stretch-four. He boasts a career three-point percentage of 38.5, and he can play both power forward and center. Frye is tremendously effective in pick-and-pop scenarios.
Opting out doesn't necessarily mean that the sun is setting on Frye's time in Phoenix. He could always choose to re-sign, provided the team is interested in floating him another deal. The Suns will have a wealth of cap space this summer.
