The Houston Rockets selected Swiss power forward Clint Capela with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft on Thursday night.
Capela, 20, represents a longer-term play, as he's still fairly early in his development. If patience can be practiced, Capela has the potential to be a difference maker on the defensive end, protecting the rim and providing above-average pick-and-roll defense. Offensively, he'll mostly be dunks and put-backs for a while.
It's unclear whether Capela plans to come directly to the NBA or continue developing overseas, so Houston may not see a return on this pick for some time. That could be right up their alley, however, as they've made no secret about their desire to maintain cap space to make a big splash this summer.
When Capela does come over, assuming Dwight Howard is still around, that pairing has the potential to bring death to all layups. He also represents a nice trade asset should the Rockets need to go that route to land a third star (they are said to be keeping him "for now" though several teams are thought to be interested).
