The Phoenix Suns selected Serbian wing Bogan Bogdanovic with the No. 27 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft on Thursday night.
2-Bogz, the newest member of the Longar Longar All-Stars, may not come to the NBA immediately, but when he does, the Suns have an enticing prospect on their hands.
Tall and incredibly long for a two-guard, Bogdanovic offers a combination of skillful penetration and a long-range stroke, a double-threat that caused issues for Adriatic League opponents. With defenses on their heels, Bogdanovic was also able to create for teammates, averaging 14.8 points and 3.7 assists this past season.
He's not an elite athlete and he has some turnover issues, but the latter could be ironed out with more experience. Whether that experience is earned in the NBA right away or with another season at Partizan - he is still under contract but could negotiate a buyout - remains unclear.
This pick makes a lot of sense for the Suns, who had three selections in the first round. With the team already bringing in T.J. Warren and Tyler Ennis, stashing Bogdanovic rather than bringing in three first-round rookies really sets them up well going forward.
