Report: Alan Anderson planning to opt out of contract with Nets
Alan Anderson is planning to opt out of the second year of his contract with the Brooklyn Nets to test free agency, a league source told the New York Post.
The 31-year-old made a career-high 78 appearances (26 starts) last season, his first with the Nets, after spending two years in Toronto. Anderson appeared in all 12 playoff games for Brooklyn - the first playoff action of his career.
As Tim Bontemps of the Post writes, opting out doesn't mean Anderson won't re-sign with the team. He might be due for a raise, too, based on his dependability in head coach Jason Kidd's rotation.
Kidd’s decision to replace Shaun Livingston in the starting lineup with Anderson for Games 6 and 7 against Toronto was arguably the difference in the series, as the Raptors failed to adjust to the presence of an extra 3-point shooter on the floor.
Anderson averaged 7.2 points in 23 minutes on the floor, and shot 34 percent from three.
