Kyle Lowry: 'I want to play for a championship'
Point guard Kyle Lowry enters unrestricted free agency next week, fresh off a career year with the Toronto Raptors that ended with an Atlantic Division title and a playoff appearance. It was a big step ahead for the 28-year-old, but he's not satisfied with a first round exit.
“I’m happy with making the playoffs and doing that, but the end game for all players should be a championship and that’s what I want to play for. I want to play for a championship," Lowry told Basketball Insiders. "For me, I can’t think about what if or what could happen… I’m not worrying about the things that I can’t control until July 1, 12:01 on Tuesday.”
Lowry will be the top point guard on the free agent market after averaging 17.9 points, 7.4 assists and 1.5 steals with the Raptors last season.
He had some positive words for his time and teammates on the Raptors, but with the Miami Heat among the teams rumored to be interested in his services, it would behoove him to take his time and listen to offers from all directions.
