The Charlotte Hornets selected Stanford power forward Dwight Powell with the No. 45 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft on Thursday night.
Powell never put his immense skill set together at Stanford, tantalizing with size, length, a handle and range but failing to wow anyone over four years as a Cardinal. Obviously, considering he's a senior and 22 years old but still got drafted, Charlotte feels they can leverage those skills to become a more complete package.
The Hornets are hoping to cash in on some of Powell's upside. He showed flashes but was never able to consistently show Stanford all he had to offer. He's the latest in what's been a slew of Canadians selected in the last few NBA drafts.
