The Sacramento Kings added to their backcourt on Thursday, reportedly agreeing to terms on a three-year, $16-million contract with point guard Darren Collison.
The 26-year-old opted out of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers in May, turning a potential $1.9-million salary into the full mid-level exception over the next three years.
The Kings had been tied to a number of guards on the market while they sort out the contract situation with their own incumbent guard, restricted free agent Isaiah Thomas.
The hyper-speedy Collison started 35 games for the Clippers last season while spending the majority of his time backing up Chris Paul. He averaged 11.4 points and 3.7 assists in just under 26 minutes per game last season.
