The deal, as presently reported, would require the Houston Rockets to find takers for a number of their contracts, including that of point guard Jeremy Lin. In all likelihood, forward Donatas Motiejunas would also have to go to carve out the requisite cap space.
There is no word on whether Chris Bosh has, nor intends on signing the offer. It does, however, give him leverage in his negotiations with Miami. Bosh reportedly wants to stay with the Heat, but doesn't want to take a big paycut to do so. The team could accommodate Bosh's demand, but it would also cut into their cap room and thus hamper their ability to sign free-agents.
Bosh does hail from Texas, as the 30-year-old forward was born in Dallas. He has been courted by teams from Texas in the past, but their advances have all been rebuked to date.
However, the Rockets are well-stocked, with All-NBA players in James Harden and Dwight Howard already in-place. Adding Bosh would vaunt the Rockets into elite status, as the combination of Howard and Bosh would easily form the most potent front-line in the league.
