Well, this is awkward.
The Los Angeles Lakers missed out in free agency on Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks), LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers), Chris Bosh (Miami Heat) and more in free agency, making Jeremy Lin, Jordan Hill and Nick Young their marquee offseason acquisitions.
It hasn't been a disaster considering the team has improved some without eating into too much future cap flexibility, but it's hardly worthy of a congratulations.
Except in the eyes of Magic Johnson, who congratulated the Lakers' brass for their failed pursuit of top free agents on Monday:
Kudos to Jim Buss, @JeanieBuss & Mitch Kupchak for their pursuit of Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James!

Good job, good effort, Lakers front office.
