Report: Metta World Peace nearing deal to play in China

Metta World Peace is close to agreeing to terms on a deal with the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association, Ian Begley of ESPNNewYork.com reports.

The 34-year-old forward appeared in 29 games for the New York Knicks last season, averaging 4.8 points and 2.0 rebounds. He was waived by the team in February.

Currently, World Peace is the assistant coach of the Palisades High girls basketball team in Los Angeles.
