Report: NBA schedule to be released Wednesday
The anticipation surrounding the release of a new NBA schedule is always exciting, but particularly so in a summer in which names like LeBron James and Kevin Love join new teams (although Love can't officially be traded to Cleveland until Aug. 23).
Some matchups have already been leaked – like Christmas Day games involving James's return to Miami, the Knicks taking on the Wizards and the Clippers and Warriors renewing their rivalry – but the basketball world is still waiting on the full, official schedule.
They won't have to wait much longer.
According to the Sun-Sentinel's Ira Winderman, the NBA will release the full 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday. In addition to their Christmas Day matchup, Winderman also reports that the Heat will host the Cavs on March 16, while Cleveland will host Miami on Feb. 11 and April 2.
The Heat are expected to open their LeBron-less campaign at home against the Wizards on Oct. 30.
According to Winderman, the delay in getting the schedule out this year was caused by James's free agency decision coming later than expected and the subsequent reworking the schedule needed with the league's TV partners after his move to Cleveland.
Teams have already been sent preliminary schedules and they are currently in the "appeal" process with the league, in which they can request changes.
