Cavs GM on Blatt: 'He's going to remain our coach ... no change is being made period'
Critics were looking for someone in the Cleveland Cavaliers organization to take a stand for their coach and publicly squash any rumors involving David Blatt losing the locker room.
That finally came Sunday, when Cavaliers General Manager David Griffin responded.
ESPN reported last week that some in the Cavs organization were concerned about how the team was responding to Blatt, and many criticized LeBron James' comments for not being supportive enough of his new coach.
"He's our coach. I mean, what other coach do we have?" James said the day the report came out. Of course, in the same scrum James also said that he was happy with having Blatt at the helm and that their relationship gets better every day.
Griffin's latest comments ensure no one need read too much into James' quotes anymore, or question Blatt's job security after every losing streak.
The Cavs, who entered the season as championship favorites after adding James and Kevin Love in the offseason, enter Sunday's game against the Dallas Mavericks sitting fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 19-14 record. Cleveland sits 4.5 games behind the Central Division-leading Chicago Bulls and six games behind the East-leading Atlanta Hawks.
