Jazz sign D-League's Elliot Williams to 10-day contract

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Utah Jazz are using every resource at their disposal – namely, the NBA Development League – to shore up their wing depth while they deal with injuries.

Days after signing guard Elijah Millsap of the Bakersfield Jam to a 10-day contract, the Jazz have dipped their toes back into the D-League pool, inking guard Elliot Williams of the Santa Cruz Warriors to a 10-day deal of his own

Williams has some NBA experience, having played 24 games for the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2011-12 season and 67 games for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2013-14. He's averaged 5.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game as an NBAer.

In 17 games with Santa Cruz this season, he's averaged 21 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists.

To make room for Williams on the roster, the Jazz waived Patrick Christopher, a 26-year-old rookie who dislocated his knee cap five minutes into his first-ever NBA start.
