Curry, Korver to headline Three-Point Contest

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry and Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Kyle Korver will headline a star-studded cast of snipers in this year's Three-Point Contest.
As announced on Thursday on the NBA All-Star 2015 Twitter account, this year's contestants will also include Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving, Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson, Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden, Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard Wes Matthews, Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard J.J. Redick and defending champion San Antonio Spurs guard Marco Belinelli.
Player | 3PM | 3PT% |
---|---|---|
Kyle Korver | 149 | 53.2 |
Stephen Curry | 147 | 40.4 |
Wesley Matthews | 151 | 40.2 |
J.J. Redick | 114 | 43.2 |
James Harden | 130 | 38.7 |
Klay Thompson | 145 | 44.6 |
Marco Belinelli | 39 | 38.2 |
Kyrie Irving | 100 | 40.8 |
More so in previous years, this year's field of contestants doubles as a reflection of the league's most prolific shooters. The top-five in terms of 3-pointers made (Matthews, Korver, Curry, Thompson, Harden) will all compete, along with Redick (eighth) and Irving (12th).
It's tough to pick a favorite out of the group, but Curry and Korver figure to have a leg up. Korver is shooting a ridiculous 53.2 percent this season and Curry's lighting-quick release and dead-eye accuracy should benefit him in a volume shooting contest. Of note, Curry sunk 10 3-pointers on Wednesday as part of a 51-point night.
Curry's teammate Thompson is no slouch himself. Just two weeks ago, Thompson shattered the NBA record for points in a quarter with 37. He finished with 52 points and 11 3-pointers that night.
Not to be discounted, Belinelli captured last season's title with a score of 24 in his final round. Belinelli defeated Curry and Irving en route to his improbable win.
