VIDEO: Rondo busted open by knee to face, diagnosed with head injury
This isn't how anybody wants to spend their Saturday night.
Two minutes into the Dallas Mavericks' game against the Orlando Magic, Rajon Rondo found himself on the receiving end of an inadvertent knee to the face from teammate Richard Jefferson. It looked incredibly painful, made worse by the fact that Rondo's head hit the floor afterwards
Rondo was bleeding from the nose and taken to the locker room for medical attention, where he was later ruled out for the remainder of the game with an undisclosed head injury.
Rondo's absence meant an extended run for Devin Harris and J.J. Barea, who combined for 22 points and five assists. The Mavs also played without Chandler Parsons on Saturday, as an illness has him sidelined for a second consecutive night. Obviously, starting Jefferson in his place was the wrong call. Monta Ellis led the way for Dallas, leading the Mavs to a 108-93 win.
In 20 games since joining the Mavs, Rondo is averaging 9.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.9 assists, with Dallas going 11-9 in that stretch.
