Nick Young on relationship with Byron Scott: 'I don't know. Can't tell you'
Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Nick "Swaggy P" Young was none too pleased after being benched for a second consecutive game in the Lakers' 92-80 loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday .
"I can't tell you what it is," Young told ESPN's Arash Markazi. "I felt good personally. It's not always up to me. It's in the coach's hands."
Young was asked about his relationship with head coach Byron Scott, to which he replied, "I don't know. Can't tell you."
Young has struggled with his shot this season, as his flashy, gun-slinging ways have netted questionable results. He is shooting just 37.3 percent from the field, including just 35.8 percent on 2-point field goals.
However, through a high dose of 3-pointers and free throw attempts, the swingman's true-shooting percentage hovers at league average, which is no small feat given the Lakers' woeful offense.
Young has been hampered by an ankle injury, which could explain his absence Sunday, but he insists he's healthy and ready to play.
The Lakers clearly think highly of Young, who they signed to a four-year deal last offseason. With Kobe Bryant missing the remainder of the season, he becomes (by default) the best shot creator on the team. Even if he has struggled with his shot, Los Angeles is at its best with Young on the court.
